VIAREGGIO’S CHAMBER OF COMMERCE :
ENERGY SAVING DESIGN

Status

Inserted in a pleasant context of recent construction, the Chamber of Commerce, by the will of its executives, has sought to verify the possibility of using renewable energy sources, but not before checking the state of the building's overall energy system. This gave rise to an interesting energy saving design’s work, which saw the creation of a series of interventions that have characterized the environmental policy of the s Chamber of Commerce of Viareggio, in the last years.

The work done

A detailed work of Energy Management, in a first phase, allowed us to identify and divide by type, consumption of different energy carriers as well as evaluating the contribution of thermal loads in summer conditions. In this context we realized the high contribution of thermal summer loads, chargeable to a wide windowed surface, located in the South West and viewable from the photo. This contribution, among the other, accounted negatively to the comfort conditions inside the rooms, in the sunniest months. As a result of technical and analytical assessments, was installed a photovoltaic canopy shading, with the main task of intercepting the solar radiation incident on the windowed surface, and secondly, to produce electricity from renewable sources.

The results

Improvement of comfort level, lower expenditure for summer air conditioning, gain from electricity produced by the photovoltaic system.
